Importance of clickable link inside video
Introduction: In the ever-evolving digital landscape, video content has become a dominant force, capturing the attention of audiences worldwide. One crucial element that can significantly impact the effectiveness of video marketing is the inclusion of clickable links within the video itself. These interactive links provide a seamless pathway for viewers to explore further, engage with brands, and take desired actions. In this article, we will delve into the importance of clickable links inside videos and how they can enhance engagement and drive meaningful results.
Directing Viewers: Clickable links embedded within videos allow content creators to guide viewers to relevant resources or additional information. Whether it's a product page, a landing page, a blog post, or a signup form, these links provide a convenient and immediate way for viewers to access further details related to the video content. By offering easy access to relevant resources, clickable links facilitate a smoother and more engaging viewer experience.
Encouraging Viewer Interaction and Engagement: Clickable links foster active viewer participation and engagement. They provide an opportunity for viewers to explore related content, dive deeper into a topic, or take specific actions without leaving the video. By integrating interactive elements such as quizzes, surveys, or polls, clickable links inside videos encourage viewers to interact, share their opinions, and stay engaged for longer periods. This enhanced interaction strengthens the connection between the viewer and the content, fostering loyalty and building a dedicated audience.
Enhancing Conversion Rates: The strategic placement of clickable links can significantly impact conversion rates. By including call-to-action links within videos, content creators can guide viewers towards desired actions, such as making a purchase, subscribing to a newsletter, or signing up for a service. With the ability to click directly from the video, viewers are more likely to follow through on the desired action, resulting in increased conversions and measurable business outcomes.
Tracking and Analytics: Clickable links provide valuable data and insights through tracking and analytics tools. Content creators can gather information on click-through rates, viewer behavior, and conversion metrics. This data-driven approach allows for informed decision-making, targeted content optimization, and continuous improvement in marketing strategies. By analyzing the performance of clickable links, content creators can refine their video content and make data-backed adjustments to enhance viewer engagement and overall performance.
Driving Traffic and Brand Exposure: Clickable links in videos serve as a powerful tool for driving traffic to websites, landing pages, or specific online destinations. By embedding links to relevant websites or social media profiles, content creators can increase brand exposure, expand their online presence, and capture new audiences. The ability to seamlessly navigate from the video to external sources amplifies the impact of video content, directing interested viewers to further engage with the brand.
Conclusion:
The inclusion of clickable links inside videos is an essential strategy for optimizing engagement, driving conversions, and achieving business goals. By providing viewers with immediate access to relevant resources, encouraging interaction, enhancing conversion rates, tracking analytics, and driving traffic, clickable links significantly enhance the effectiveness of video marketing. As you incorporate clickable links into your video content, remember to strategically place them, analyze their performance, and continually refine your approach based on data-driven insights. Embrace the power of clickable links to captivate your audience, foster meaningful engagement, and achieve tangible results through your video marketing endeavors.

Is Your Dominant Planet Helping or Sabotaging You?
Ever feel like one planet in your chart is completely running your life? Like, no matter what, you always default to a certain way of thinking, reacting, or making the same questionable decisions? That’s your dominant planet at work. But is it making your life easier… or way harder than it needs to be? Let’s break it down.
How to Tell Which Planet is Dominant in Your Chart
Your dominant planet isn’t necessarily your Sun, Moon, or Rising—it’s the one with the most influence over your personality, choices, and bad habits. Some signs it’s the boss of your chart:
It’s in its home sign (like Venus in Libra or Mars in Aries) or exalted (like Moon in Taurus).
It has the most aspects (connections) to other planets.
It sits in a major house, like the 1st (identity), 10th (career), or 7th (relationships).
It rules your Sun, Moon, AND Rising (triple threat).
It’s the only planet of a certain element (Fire, Earth, Air, Water) in your chart.
If you have two or more dominant planets, congrats—you’re a complicated mess with conflicting instincts (but at least you’re interesting). You're like a cosmic onion.
Your Dominant Planet: The Good, The Bad, & The Ridiculous
☀️ Sun Dominant – The Main Character
Natural confidence—people notice you whether you want them to or not.
Charismatic and great at leading (or at least pretending to know what you’re doing).
Magnetic presence—people either admire you or feel deeply threatened.
Cannot handle being ignored for even five minutes.
Takes everything way too personally (the group chat going silent is not about you).
Life is one big performance, even when no one’s watching.
🌙 Moon Dominant – The Walking Emotional Rollercoaster
Emotionally intuitive—you just know when someone’s lying.
People trust you instantly (whether you wanted that responsibility or not).
Deeply caring—probably the “mom friend” of the group.
Gets attached too fast—if someone is nice to you once, they’re basically family.
Mood swings for absolutely no reason (and good luck explaining them).
Overthinks texts, social interactions, and why the barista looked at you weird.
🪐 Saturn Dominant – The Workaholic Who Can’t Relax
Disciplined and reliable—if you say you’ll do something, it gets done.
People respect you because you actually have your life together (or seem like you do).
Ages like fine wine—born a stressed-out child, but gets way cooler with time.
Takes responsibility for everything, even things that are not your problem.
Permanent resting serious face—people assume you’re judging them.
🔥 Mars Dominant – The Human Energy Drink
High-energy.
Assertive—you go after what you want and get it.
Quick reflexes—probably great at sports, fighting, or avoiding responsibilities.
Zero patience—slow walkers and buffering videos are your worst nightmare.
Occasional anger issues (“I’M NOT MAD, YOU’RE JUST WRONG”).
Thinks first, acts later… if at all.
🌿 Venus Dominant – The Flirt Who Gets Away with Everything
Naturally charming—people are drawn to you without knowing why.
Always looks effortlessly put together (even when you’re a mess inside).
Romantic AF—you love love.
Indecisive as hell—picking a restaurant is a 3-hour ordeal.
Can’t say no—people-pleasing is your toxic trait.
Might have a tiny shopping addiction (but hey, self-care).
☁️ Mercury Dominant – The Fast-Talker & Overthinker
Sharp, witty, and always has a comeback (even when you should probably keep quiet).
Absorbs information like a sponge—trivia night MVP.
Can talk to literally anyone about anything.
Mind never shuts up—sleep is a myth.
Either replies to texts instantly… or in three months, no in-between.
Talks way too fast—people need subtitles.
🌎 Jupiter Dominant – The Chaotic Optimist
Lucky AF—things somehow work out for you.
Big personality, big dreams, big everything.
Loves adventure—you’re always down for something wild.
Overestimates how much time, money, and luck you actually have.
Can’t resist saying yes to everything—major FOMO energy.
No impulse control—“Let’s book a trip right now.”
🔮 Neptune Dominant – The Daydreamer Who Might Be on Another Planet
Insanely creative—your imagination is unreal.
People find you mystical and intriguing (even when you’re just zoning out).
Deeply intuitive—you just know things before they happen.
Time management is a joke—was that 5 minutes or 5 hours? Who knows.
Has full-on fantasies about things that will never happen (but what if they did?).
Trusts people too easily (no, they will not "change" for you).
🖤 Pluto Dominant – The Intensity Overlord
Unshakable—life could crumble around you and youd be fine.
Magnetic energy—people either worship or fear you.
Always transforming—rises from the ashes like a badass phoenix.
Suspicious of everyone (and usually right).
Constantly going through some kind of crisis.
Low-key enjoys dark, broody thoughts for fun.
So… Is Your Dominant Planet Helping or Sabotaging You?
Either way, you’re stuck with it. But the more you understand it, the more you can work with it instead of letting it run your life.

𝐁𝐚𝐫𝐧 𝐒𝐮𝐫𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐞 🐰ྀི M & C Sturniolo
✘ fluff, mentions of smoking but that's it.
"Hold the damn camera Chris!"
"M'not the fucking YouTuber, Nick is!" Chris barks back, annoyance clear in his voice.
Matt and Chris were filming a surprise video for Nick's channel. They weren't in the YouTube scene unless they filmed with Nick or went to sell at the influencer parties—YouTube wasn't their thing. Despite the influencer scene not being their forte, the two had been high and came up with the bright idea to surprise their brother and their girlfriend with a bunch of barn animals.
They don't remember exactly how the idea formed, but they were hellbent on doing it. They formed a plan, deciding on setting everything up that following Wednesday when Bunny had ballet early and Nick had a meeting for his brand. It worked perfectly considering Nick would then pick Bunny up and they would come home at the same time.
So here they were, allowing the animal owner, Bianca, inside along with all the animals. "They are going to love this," Chris giggles as he zooms the camera in on the turtle.
"You said you two were surprising your brother and your girlfriend?" both boys nod at Bianca's question, smiles on their faces as they think about the surprise. "That's nice, who's the lucky guy with the girl?"
Before either boy could answer, they hear the front door opening, Nick immediately calling out, "We're home!"
"Hey Nick, hey Bunny," Nick and Bunny come up the stairs, Nick appearing first and stopping in his tracks.
"I'm never leaving the house again. What is going on?!" Bunny furrows her brows in confusion. She was still on the lower part of the stairs so she didn't see all the animals, however when she heard a duck quacking, she was quick to rush up the stairs.
She gasps and drops her bag in excitement, nothing but joy rushing through her veins, her exhaustion long forgotten. Her eyes dart around the living room, looking at all the animals and taking it in. She zeros in on the bunnies and squeals, diving forward and falling to her knees in front of the cage. She begins to talk to the bunnies through the cage, the pair of animal siblings flocking towards her and sniffing her fingers.
Nick walks into the living room fully, still in shock at how his home has been transformed. "Are you two surprised?" Chris asks, shoving the camera in Nick's face.
"In an odd way I am, but I'm not surprised by the activities you two like to do anymore." Chris rolls his eyes and turns the camera to Bunny who is still preoccupied with the bunnies.
"And what about you Bun? You surprised?" Matt asks as he squats down next to her. Instead of answering him, she turns towards Bianca with a hopeful look. "They are so cute! Am I allowed to hold them?!" Matt scoffs as he is being ignored, standing up once more and standing by Chris.
" Of course! If you want you can sit in the cage with them as well."
It's amusing to everyone how the girl climbs into the cage and starts playing with the rabbits, disregarding all the other animals in sight as well as the other people in the room. She looks in her element, in her own world, joy strewn across her face as the animals climb all over her.
As Chris and Matt film Nick, catching him awkwardly interacting with the animals, Bunny remains in the cage, having the time of her life.
It's like the furry animals recognize her as one of their own. The one in her arms manages to propel itself on top of her head, while the other two plant themselves in her lap. Her contagious giggles capture the attention of everyone and they can't help but swoon at the wholesome sight.
"Looks like Bun found her flock," Matt jokes, walking over and taking the rabbit off her head.
"Don't you want to hold one of the other animals' Bun?" She looks at the other animals and shakes her head, going back to feeding her 'people'.
After another hour, time is up and Bianca begins to gather her things and animals. "Come on ma, out the cage," Chris ushers softly, holding his hand out to help her stand up. The girl pouts and holds on to the bunnies. "Do they have to go?" Chris sucks in a sharp breath seeing her pout and her eyes soften.
Matt chuckles, "yes, they do. Come on, we don't want to hold Bianca up." She huffs and begrudgingly sets the animals down, allowing Chris and Matt to help her out of the cage.
As both boys hold on to her, missing her this whole day, Bianca speaks up. "Did you want to help me bring them to the car?" Bunny immediately wiggles out of Matt and Chris's grasp, scooping up one of the bunnies in her arm and bounding down the stairs.
Matt and Chris huff, but begin helping clean up the living room. Eventually, the livingroom was back to normal, the barn smell gone due to the cleaners that came.
Bunny bounds into Chris's room, fresh out of the shower and dressed in pajamas. She plants herself on Chris's lap, disregarding the blunt in his hand as he and Matt smoke. She smiles innocently at them, touching Chris affectionately. They both look at her with low red eyes - they already know she wants something. She never sits on their lap when they smoke, always opting to sit on the bed or going to be with Nick.
"What do you want?
"Who said I want something? I can't sit with my boy-" She stops her lies seeing the look Matt gives her. She huffs and crosses her arms, "Fine, I want a pet bunny."
"No" Matt and Chris answer at the same time. She furrows her brows, her face already going into a pout.
"Why not?!"
"Because none of us in this house are ready for a bunny out of all pets," Matt answers nonchalantly. She knows there is some truth to his words, but she can't help but be a brat about it. She huffs once more and pushes herself away from Chris, going to lie on his bed. She doesn't get far due to Matt turning her around and gripping her jaw softly.
"Drop the attitude, you know I'm right," she whines softly but does as told, knowing that she can't be mad about the truth. Matt chuckles and plants a soft kiss to her lips, " we can get a fish instead."
"Really?" Her eyes glow with excitement. A fish isn't a bunny, but she wouldn't mind settling for an aquatic animal. Matt chuckles and pats her butt, ushering her towards the bed.
"Go to sleep, you have practice tomorrow."

Alright, I’ve been holding this inside for years but I’m finally gonna say it.
Misako haters are actually fucking annoying at this point.
They always were to me, but now, they’re just OBJECTIVELY an annoyance. And they need to STOP.
They take literally ANY chance to slander her, even when it’s completely unwarranted. Like, I’d just look at a picture of her on Pinterest, and there’d be multiple comments going "the world’s worst mother". Or I’d see content about Koko and there’d always be comments comparing her and Misako and going like "Koko way better fuck Misako".
I’d even see a fucking meme and people would slander Misako. Like they couldn’t resist.
And that’s not even mentioning his people constantly make her seem way worse than she actually is. Im not gonna quote everything, but basically they act like she never does good things for Lloyd. That she doesn’t care about him at all! And it’s just- so WILDY out of character!! And it’s the same vice versa! I saw a funny Ninjago video the other day with a "your mom" joke and someone in the comments was like "jokes on you, Lloyd would never call Misako mom". I’m just?????? Yes he DOES????? ALL THE TIME???
People just act like their relationship is nonexistent! Like they don’t care about each other, or that Misako doesn’t care about Lloyd! Which is OBVIOUSLY not true!
People claim that she disappears every other season but the only seasons she was absent in are 12 and 13. Also, she has a job. She goes on expeditions. Obviously she’s not there 100% of the time. And she and Lloyd clearly spend time together off screen.
People don’t even acknowledge the reason why she left in the first place. They act like she dropped him off at a boarding school and dipped to take a vaycay. She was literally trying to stop her husband and son from having to fight to the death. You ever think about that? You ever think about how SHE felt in the situation? With her husband being consumed by evil and later being banished, and learning that he and their son would have to fight each other? She was HORRIFIED and GRIEVING! Ultimately she did it to save her family. It doesn’t make leaving Lloyd right but it’s understandable.
But apparently not to almost all of the fandom.
Most of y’all, completely ignore that, and everything else that came after season 2.
Misako constantly being worried about Lloyd in Tournament of Elements and Possession.
Both of them spending Day of the Departed together.
Her getting/building the Destiny’s Shadow as a birthday gift for Lloyd.
How she supported, fought beside, and risked her life for Lloyd in Hunted.
How she wanted to stay and fight with him during MoTO but only went inside because Lloyd urged her to protect the civilians.
Not to mention just their general interactions. THEY’RE ALWAYS HAPPY TO SEE EACH OTHER!!! Do you know how many times they hug?!
And this dialogue here:
"Aren’t you going to kiss your mother goodbye?"
"Mooom, we've-we've talked about this-"
WHAT MORE PROOF DO YOU NEED?!
Lloyd and Misako have a good, healthy and loving relationship. Misako has long since made up for her mistake and they’ve moved on.
Yet THE FANDOM REFUSES TO!!!
EVERYONE, TO THIS DAY, STILL TREATS HER LIKE THE FUCKING DEVIL!!!
I CAN’T EVEN COUNT THE NUMBER OF TIMES PEOPLE HAVE HAD OVERDRAMATIC TANTRUMS FROM HER JUST EXISTING.
IT MAKES ME SO UNREASONABLY ANGRY.
AND THE FACT THAT I’VE SOMEHOW BEEN SEEING EVEN MORE MISAKO HATE DURING AND AFTER MOTHERS DAY IS ACTUALLY APPALLING.
NOT EVEN FUCKING ENDEAVOR FROM MHA GETS THIS MUCH HATE AND HE’S DONE MUCH WORSE TO HIS FAMILY.
IT. HAS. BEEN. OVER. 16. SEASONS. AND. A. MOVIE.
GET. OVER. IT.
*deep breath*
Look, she’s not perfect. Obviously. She fucked up. But who in this series hasn’t? She came back, and she’s made sure to be a better mother to Lloyd. He forgave her, and they have a good relationship now. They’re close.
She wouldn’t be as hated if the writers didn’t do her dirty. Her introduction wasn’t handled the best, and having her and Lloyd have a more in depth discussion would’ve made the reunion and forgiveness feel less rushed and forced. That love triangle with Wu and Garmadon certainly didn’t do her any favors either. 😑
Regardless, her character’s gotten better over the seasons. Again, she and Lloyd and close and have a good relationship.
But hardly anyone acknowledges that, almost everyone in the fandom hyper fixates on that one mistake from years ago. They don’t pay attention to anything else. Like how she’s a better mother, or how she’s just a generally good person.
You aren’t supposed to judge characters or irl people solely on their past mistakes. Especially when they’ve already made up for them. Thats why the "Misako’s a horrible mother" statement is always bullshit to me.
Seriously, Misako’s been a part of Lloyd’s life longer than she’s been absent from it at this point.
The amount of passionate, unforgiving hate she gets is so undeserved and over the top. Too many people are projecting their own issues onto her. Or just being plain hateful. It’s not fair to define her entire character on a single mistake that she’s long made up for.
And it’s definitely not fair to people that actually like Misako. Often times on the few positive posts about her, there’d be Misako haters in the notes or reblogs complaining about her or insulting her, or just stating they hate her but love the content. And that is completely uncool and rude. It’s so unnecessary. You don’t do that, that’s so shitty. The again Misako haters have a habit of spouting unnecessary hate. Like it’s a terminal condition they have.
So, please, for the love of god, COOL IT. Stop and think, try to ACTUALLY look at her character without the veil of blind hatred.
If you still dislike or hate her, fine! But if you’re gonna detest her, at least hate her as she is and don’t make her worse than she actually is to justify hating her more.
And PLEASE stop bashing her at every turn, it’s annoying, upsetting, unwarranted, unnecessary, and just not good.
Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.
#ninjago#ninjago misako#misako garmadon#rant post#I may revive backlash for this#I don’t care#I’m so fucking done with this fandom#the hate is actually so ridiculous#y’all can live without constantly putting down a misunderstood character#Misako Defender For Life

Tell me, how do you feel about Werepapas, especially the flashbacks in that episode?
I'm not watching season six, but I have perused the Werepapas script, seen the backlash, and seen clips so I feel reasonably comfortable talking about it. I've got a werepapas salt tag if you want to know my thoughts about various things in the episode, but I haven't touched on the flashbacks so let's do that!
This episode has two flashbacks. It opens on the first one which shows Emilie and a much younger Adrien discussing the fact that Emilie no longer talks to her parents:
Adrien: So this mean you have a daddy and a mommy too? Émilie: Yes and they're your grandpa and grandma. Adrien: Where are they? Émilie: Far away. Adrien: Where is far away? Can we go there? Émilie: You know, Adrien, being a daddy or a mommy means loving your children more than anything in the world, and there are things that my daddy and my mommy… love more than me. (Adrien looks sad.) Things that sometimes make them… (Wipes tears.) not so good. That's why we never see them.
I find it kind of funny that this is the FIRST TIME we get to see a memory of Adrien interacting with his mother. It's basically the first time we get to see her interacting with anyone! Evolution doesn't count since she only says one word and the videos don't count because she's just a pre-recorded talking head giving rather impersonal dialogue. None of that gives you a sense of who she was as a person.
This kind of character-establishing content should have been in the earlier seasons for one very important reason: we now know that Emilie is never coming back and she is no longer anyone's driving motivation, so who she was no longer matters to the story. There is no reason to elevate her from a woman in a refrigerator to the role of an actual character.
It would be different if Emilie's memory was still influencing Adrien's character in major ways, but Adrien has canonically moved on so she's not haunting him. The fine details of their relationship don't change our understanding of his character. This episode isn't even about Emilie or her relationship with Adrien. It's about... we'll it's not really about anything - a problem we'll get to in a second - but the Emilie scenes seem to be there to let the audience know Emilie was okay with Nathalie replacing her.
That reveal doesn't come until the second flashback, though. This first flashback is just about establishing some random backstory elements for Adrien's childhood and establishing that Emilie didn't talk to her parents. In other words, this flashback was a bit of a waste of time. The grandparent thing could - and should - have been done in a throwaway line.
Why?
Because this episode is bloated and unfocused as hell! All of the following happens
We're introduced to four new characters (Adrien's grandparents)
Adrien's grandmother gets akumatized because she's sick of her husband controlling her (not other people, her)
The grandparents decide who gets custody over Adrien
Nathalie worries about replacing Emilie which is never really addressed
The writers "redeem" yet another rich asshole dad without any substance to that redemption
The writers try to do something dramatic with Adrien's amok rings even though the rings get nothing close to the attention they need for that sub plot to work
In other words, this is not the time to finally introduce us to Emilie and discuss how she felt about her parents! We don't have time for that!
[Image description: Fear from Pixar's Inside Out yelling "Boo! Pick a plotline!"]
It's not even like this flashback saved us from exposition later in the episode:
Adrien: I'm meeting my grandparents. Marinette: Woah, that's amazing! (Adrien doesn't answer. He looks sad.) What? Adrien: I'm not sure. I don't know them. I never even met them before. Marinette: Seriously? Adrien: My mom's parents… she didn't want us to see them. Marinette: Huh? But… why not? Adrien: She said they were mean. As for my father, he never even told me about his parents.
Not only does this dialogue rehash the opening scene, this is a better version of the opening scene! It's quicker, only involves established characters, lets us know Adrien's current feelings on the matter, and addresses both sets of grandparents. All of that is way more important than showing us Emilie crying over her parents at some point in the distant past. Her feelings on the matter don't matter because she's dead! Meanwhile Adrien's feelings do matter because this will actually effect the rest of his life. Focus on him, not her.
The only reason I'd include the opening scene is if Emilie's definition of a good parent came back:
Émilie: You know, Adrien, being a daddy or a mommy means loving your children more than anything in the world, and there are things that my daddy and my mommy… love more than me. (Adrien looks sad.) Things that sometimes make them… (Wipes tears.) not so good. That's why we never see them.
But it doesn't. Nathalie does not act like a loving parent in this episode. She doesn't make some meaningful sacrifice for Adrien or perform some major act of love to show that she's the best choice. Ladybug fights the akumas solo and Nathalie stays out of the way when as the four Grandparents fight over Adrien even though Adrien is obviously distressed. In other words, nothing about this episode made me think Nathalie was the best choice for Adrien in terms of quality. I actually like his paternal grandparents way more! They seem great! Give him to them!
No one even quotes Emilie's dialogue or references Emilie when picking Nathalie. This is the dialogue when Nathalie is chosen:
Nathalie: Adrien is not my son. I have no rights. Gabrielle: Like Jagged once said, "You is the one who loves him, so you is mom". Johnny: Did he really say that? Gabrielle: If he didn't, then he should. Nathalie: Is this really what you want? Adrien: (Hugs Nathalie) My life is here in Paris, with Marinette, my friends and you.
Based on this dialogue, the opening flashback should have featured Jagged Stone since his opinions on the matter are given infinitely more weight than Emilie's!
It's also worth noting that the grandparents most involved in this choice are not the grandparents who were causing all the problems. Emilie's father - Emil - was the main antagonist in the Adrien fight and he's silent throughout the whole exchange over Nathalie. He only enters the conversation after the Nathalie issue is decided and it's not to give his blessing. The blessing comes from his wife who was always fine with Nathalie being Adrien's new mom as you can see from this earlier dialogue:
Adrien: If I may, Lord Graham, I live with Nathalie. Emil: She's an employee, not family. She has no legal right to care for you, unlike us, (Nathalie hears the comment from outside the room and becomes sad) your mother's parents. Milly: Emil, dearest, Nathalie has known Adrien for so long that she's practically part of the family now. Emil: Milly, I'm talking! Keep your useless remarks to yourself!
Emil only becomes involved in the post-Nathalie-choice conversation so that his wife can reveal that he loves freaking French fries because for some reason that makes him a good person now? I'm serious, this is the extent of his redemption:
Johnny: There will even be fries – the Grassettes' specialty! Milly: Then we gladly accept your invitation. Emil: Honestly, Milly… Milly: Emil, stop it! Just admit it already, you love french fries! Gabrielle: Do you? Really? (Emil, embarrassed, gestures to say "sort of")
He apologizes for nothing save for a few comedic apologies during the akuma fight because the akuma's powers force him to physically fight. His awful words and treatment of others are never addressed.
What even was this episode??? It's a mess!!! I read the script multiple times to try to find a clear message or lesson, but there really isn't one. The fact that Gabriel's parents own a fast food empire gets more attention than the Graham de Vanilys' relationship with their deceased daughter even though she opens the freaking episode! Why do that if you're not going to give us a Graham de Vanilys family throughline where Emil shows a meaningful change of heart!
That ending scene really should have been Emil quoting his daughter to show that her cutting him off changed him or something along those lines, but nope! Emilie isn't even referenced outside of the flashbacks save for that one line from Adrien explaining why he doesn't know his maternal grandparents and Nathalie's claim that she can't replace "Adrien's mother". Both things that did not require Emilie to suddenly be an actual character to work.
Final verdict: a flashback like the opening one could be an unnecessary-but-nice addition to an episode that has time for it, but Werepapas did NOT have time for baby Adrien learning about his grandparents! Werepapas needed to be a much more focused 45-minute-long special so that it had time to make at least one of its main ideas work! Even then I'd still cut this flashback unless you made the Graham de Vanilys' family issues the main focus AND had Emilie be an important part of why her father gave up on controlling Adrien.
This is running long, so we're going to end here and save flashback two for tomorrow. You'll even get a third post on how this episode massively retconned the timeline for Emilie's illness.

Silent Earth

Now playing: Silent Earth - Josephine Illingworth they saw the silent earth, and they felt it breathe Pairing: Tyler Joseph x gn!reader CW: none really, fluff, missing him on tour Summary: Mornings with Ty when he's back from tour :( Disclaimer: Reader is always thought to be fat in my stories cause chubby readers aren't loved enough. Reader is not physically described here at all but they're envisioned when I'm writing to be bigger. WC: 1.8k bro TOP has had me in a chokehold since the start of October and I'm just now remembering I can write. Shoutout 11 year old me for being a fan I hope you're proud.
The air in the rising hours felt crisp, and nearly frosty. You’d left the windows open the night before in hopes of welcoming the chill, knowing that you and him both ran hot, and slept better when it was cold inside. October was rolling to a close, and you didn’t know how many nights remained before the snow came and forced your windows shut. He had told you once that he liked the nights so frigid because you relied on him for warmth, finally cool enough beneath the duvet to require his body heat to remain comfortable. You’d practically fuse to him this time of year, overlapping any bear skin that you could, like you were trying to siphon the warmth right from it. He never minded, he looked forward to it. He seemed to reciprocate mindlessly, giggling at the noises of surprise you elicited when he’d roll you onto him before going to sleep or at the sudden draping of his arms over your shoulders whenever you were distracted.
You’d settled into this pocket of domesticity - admittedly - faster than you should have, relying on that routine of sweeping winds and the spirit of Autumn to push you and him closer than you were in the Summertime. Even as he and Josh began their work on Clancy, you hadn’t remembered just how deep the loneliness perforated you when he was touring. Digitally, you were as in the know as possible, with videos of different venues being sent and endless declarations of his ache to be home - to be with you. It was hardly sustainable, both of you feeling the pull back to your shared space no matter where in the world he performed. It was what it was. Both of you knowing intently where your shared roots were planted, doing the best you could to keep them watered from afar. You didn’t sleep as well, he hardly slept at all. Times like these found both of you on call until the early morning, talking about nothing just for the sake of hearing the other. Feeling each other the best you could, metaphorically stretching your arms out as far as possible. The only thing that kept you reaching to close that gap was sheer desperation, pleading for just a moment of interaction.
Both him and Josh had been devastated at the streak of years that went by with no shows. You were sad for them, but the two of you settled into yourselves during that time. Happy and homely in the life you shared, and you couldn’t find a way to be truly saddened at the time you got to spend with him. They’d gone back on tour not too long ago, tossing their finished album into the sea of fans who’d been waiting for years with open jaws. You couldn’t be happier to see him re-enter his element, going to the opening nights they played near you and wishing them well with teary eyes when they’d left Ohio for the next year. Like always, you’d allowed yourself time to wallow. A couple days to process the temporary loss. Your fingers seemed to itch with the desire to pry open your stomach and stuff it full of something fluffy, something to satiate that swirling puddle of dread that burrowed into you when he was gone for so long. It was earnest and hardy, it was a sense of incompleteness. In a way you were grateful for it because of how vibrant it made the reunions. Whenever he came back, it was like your lungs opened up to finally let air back into your body. He touched you, and seemed to simply sap that feeling from your bones.
You could still feel the phantom sensation of that misery fleeing you as you laid next to him. He and Josh were on an off week, back at home for a bit before going back up North to do the next leg of shows. You’d seen him for the first time in months last night, been able to mold yourself to him again, and slept the best you had your whole life. Now, you were awake before him, propped up slightly on the headboard and just looking. Whenever he caught you staring at him, he’d jokingly chastise that you’d turn him to stone if you looked any harder, but you could never help yourself. The tours were always taxing, you’d heard it time again on your calls, but it was different seeing the way he wore it when he came home. His voice was always a tad raspier, shoulders a tad more slumped, and the circles under his eyes begging for sleep that would actually revive him. Not the shaking tour bus beds or the cheap hotels, but the bed that was shared between the two of you. He was the most ethereal sight you’d ever seen. The sun was christening the floorboards, creeping over his bare chest and making his resting face almost glow in the gold of the light. It was nearly angelic, watching the illuminated room rouse him from the well deserved sleep. You were almost sad to watch him be pulled from it, but you missed him like hell, and the thought of losing time to slumber wasn’t one you liked.
You meant to greet him good morning as he woke up, felt it bubble up in your throat, even. You’d heard those slight groans of returning consciousness, though, and watched him stretch and fully open his eyes, and simply couldn’t force it out. The warmth that pooled in your stomach at feeling so fully at home after being deprived of it reached up and yanked the words back down before you could say them. You were so captivated by his very existence, that you only smiled slightly, a small upturn of your lips to express the elation pumping through you. He could sense it as he awoke, either the absence of you in his arms or the presence of your eyes on him, and he turned his head toward you. Still lying on the pillow, he rolled over to face you.
He saw your awestruck face, with eyes that were glistening a little with pure adoration and fondness, and he chuckled at the sight. “Good morning.” It was light, and a bit rough both from sleep and residual exertion from tour. It settled silently into the natural ambiance of your still bedroom.
You smiled a bit wider at the sound, laughing breathlessly at the look of amusement on his face. “Sorry. I know I’m staring.” You nudged him with your leg at the reference, his fingers coming up to trace gentle shapes on it as he smiled at your words.
“Mm, you are.” It was a bit snarky, and he kept his hand moving on your leg. “But it’s ok. I actually missed it while I was gone.”
You feigned shock at his words. “Really? I can’t believe what I’m hearing. Not worried I’m going to turn you to stone anymore?”
He laughed, a slight giggle that sounded so at ease you nearly cried from how much you felt the absence of it when he was away. “I don’t think I’d mind it.” You raised your eyebrows in question. “Yeah, I mean - if you turn me to stone, I’d just have to stay here forever, and I already want to do that. No problems here.”
Your face wrinkled in a mix of cringing and laughing at such a cheesy remark so early in the morning. “Wow, that was so smooth.” You remarked, sarcastic and attempting to be deadpan before breaking and chuckling through your response, the man beside you already laughing.
You put your palm on top of the fingers tracing your thigh, opting to hold his hand and caress the back of it with your thumb. “How’d you sleep?”
You saw his other hand travel up to his head, familiarly fidgeting with the strands of his grown out buzz cut. The angle seemed a bit awkward with his head still resting on his pillow, but it was a subconscious habit, and you doubt he even noticed it. “Indescribably good.” He emphasized, dramatic in tone but still holding a sense of sincerity. “I actually slept. I’ve been so used to waking up or not sleeping deep enough. I think I just passed out last night.”
You giggled at that. “You did. I looked over and you were out.”
“Hey, you can’t blame me for that.” He looked down to where you were holding his hand. “I haven’t been home in forever. It’s like the sleep deprivation caught up with me when I saw you were here and ok.”
Your brows furrowed at that. “I get that. But we talk every night, Ty. You know when I’m home.”
“No - I know.” He paused for a moment. “It’s like, consciously I know you’re fine, but when I’m so far away I can’t feel it like I usually can. I worry about it, you know subconsciously. That you’re not ok somehow and I don’t know because I’m not here.” You go to voice your rebuttal, but he continues his explanation. “When I’m home, everything just…falls into place. I know you’re safe, so I don’t have to worry about anything.”
You exhale, heavy and sympathetic. The same anxiety keeps you from sleeping deeply, haunted by thoughts of his bus crashing or someone wanting to hurt him. You don’t know what to say. You decide, instead, to move back down from the headboard and lay against him. Circling his torso with your arms and slotting yourself in his open arms. “You don’t have to worry. I’ll be waiting for you to get home, yeah? Promise.”
He took his now free hand and held your shoulder with it, pressing you tighter against him. Squeezing lightly in acknowledgment of your words. “Can’t promise that, honey.”
You sucked in a breath, lining your words with more sarcasm. “Too bad.” You brought your hand up to his chest, palm flat against it as you dug your chin into the back of it to look him in the eyes. “I’ll always be here, you know? I love you.” No matter how many years you shared with him, the words always felt slightly foreign leaving your mouth. Nerves still lined your stomach at the thought of willingly giving him so much of yourself. You always pushed through, though. The feelings you held were so blinding, and so overwhelming that they practically spilled from your lips anyways. No matter the words you said, they were always flowing steadily over the rim with the love you had for him.
The light in the room reflected off his pupils, the depths of brown in his irises shining with the comfort of being home, the innate correctness of the two of you together. He didn’t know how he’d ever lived without it. “I love you more.”

⚠️DR Chapter 3&4 gameplay discussion!⚠️
I am genuinely baffled by Toby's (and the rest of his team's) capability to continuously shock me with new and fun gameplay mechanics, ESPECIALLY in these recent 2 chapters!
Video games inside a video game, laser pointers, controlling hearts through vents, a rhythm mini game, and even mixing red and yellow drinks; all of it is so incredibly refreshing for a game series that is essentially an interactive novel with rpg elements (meant in the kindest most fondest way possible).

So for your MLP Weapons AU, is there like…a set protagonist? Or is it supposed to be like a video game where the player (or reader in this case) is supposed to see themselves in the adventure?
Also is there any way for the soul/pony inside the weapon can communicate with the wielder? Maybe a ghostly image only they can see, telepathy, or talking in dreams? It’s cool if you don’t, just wondering/I kinda like that trope.
MLP Weapons AU
TBH I was hoping someone would ask this! Ty for stepping onto my trap card! XD
TLDR: The Weapons AU is an RP setting.
Not an RP with me specifically, but more like... If you see the AU and you/your friends want to make OC's to fit the role of the 'New Elements' kind of deal. I think roleplay is a fun way to interact with each other and make your own stories!
(Plus it means I don't have to make yet another comic series LMAO)
I'm like the DM, showing you who's in the world and the challenges you could face along the way. You make the characters, I'll make the adventure! Most of the ponies I design are going to be allies, altered characters, or villains. I might even make some YCH stuff so people can add their own characters to the art of the AU!
As for the spirits....
Yeah! There's definitely a way for the Spirits to communicate and interact with their users! I really do like the idea of having their 'ghost' be visible to the user, because that allows for me to draw them. I imagine they'd also use telepathy in fights when they need to communicate quickly.
The dreams though... Hm. That's an interesting one. I do think the Spirits of the Elements are capable of that, but the realm of dreams is where Nightmare Moon's power lies...
Nightmare Moon/Luna could definitely sense the Spirits appearing in their users dreams. That might be the way the current user of Nightmare's Harvest finds the New Elements and starts hunting them. Doing so may put the New Elements in peril as they search for their weapons...

And Now, I Wear This Ribbon; Episode 1
This event is about Mizuki's first interactions with Nightcord at 25:00. So, we get to have a closer look at what Mizuki actually does as part of her music video work! I'll make a separate post for how this episode dives into her bond with Mafuyu.

Here we see her adjusting how many transitions occur, their type, and the finer timing of when they occur, all while taking direct inspiration from the sketch Ena gave her. She's made the pace feel dynamic and closer to how dynamic she sees the song as.

Kanade praises Mizuki's work and shows that the music video independent of the artwork is able to bring the song's theme to life while also being an avenue of self-expression for Mizuki in her capacity as an artist.

As she said earlier, the sketch Ena made is able to inform ways Mizuki structures the music video that uses it. Here, Mizuki was feeling inspired by the sketch, and the work passed much easier.

We see Ena working closely with Mizuki as the other half of the music video element. Up to now, we've had plenty of looks into how Ena struggles with the art for N25's music videos, because she's her own worst critic and stakes her self-worth on the quality of her work. For Ena, her art is readily a part of her emotional narrative. Kanade's work is the delivery of her narrative, and Mafuyu's work changes dramatically in step with her own growth, but Mizuki has her own spiralling character arc started and mostly resolved without her music video work really playing a part. Mizuki generally has self-confidence and does good work, and she doesn't stake her pride or self-image on it. As an artist she's very professional, so it takes an inside look like this event to give us the chance to see what her process looks like.
Ena has her own vision for the music video and envsioned a chorus that stands out more than what Mizuki made. Mizuki did try to make that part stand out; she understood that part was important, and even focused on perfecting the transitions before the chorus in the earlier screencap. Mizuki and Ena are in sync, even if Ena doesn't know it. Mizuki takes it in stride and doesn't take it personally.
Mafuyu stayed up late tonight because she doesn't have cram school in the morning but her mom had spied on her and she quickly signed off, though not before telling Kanade how special being a part of N25 is for her. It's after 4:30, but Ena wants to stay up a little later and make sure she and Mizuki nail down the changes Ena envisions.

During the creative discussion, Ena doesn't directly suggest changes Mizuki should make but trusts Mizuki to take it in the specific direction Ena discussed with her. Mizuki doesn't direct Ena the same way, leaving Ena's art to the perfectionist, simply asking her to finish it at a more timely pace, since we've already seen the art is very important for informing how Mizuki makes the storyboard.

Mizuki considers herself as having creative signatures to her music videos, enough she's able to pay homage to her earlier works by playing with patterns she's used before. Under normal circumstances, I'd question if Mizuki is being sincere or if she's covering up that she reused an idea from a video old enough people wouldn't notice, but she looks so proud of what she did here; it's clearly significant to her emotionally.
It was a very subtle homage but Ena picked up on it. The two have become more in sync creatively. In Ena's mind, this fits her narrative of her and Mizuki finally being on the same page after the Footsteps arc and her promise, but to Mizuki, she knows they aren't; Mizuki knows she can't stop herself from taking Ena's friendship and Mizuki's secrecy indefinitely. Mizuki knows they aren't in sync; she did emphasize the chorus in her storyboard even as it went over Ena's that she did, and here, Mizuki doesn't request changes for Ena to make despite Blank Canvas making Ena more confident in her art and better with criticism.

how to avoid writing quirky and stiff characters/dialogues/storytelling and sound natural, or you know human-made
Three Steps to Telling Authentic Human Stories
1 - Be an Observer of Humanity - Being a writer is all about being an observer. We can't tell storieYs without first observing the people, situations, and elements that create stories. So, pay attention to the world around you. People watch. Interact with family and friends. Ask questions. Read human interest stories. Read short stories, fan-fiction, books, graphic novels, comic books... whatever piques your interest. Play video games that feature human stories. Watch documentaries about people and life. Watch TV shows and movies. Really pay attention to people and characters, learn what drives them and what's going on inside their hearts and minds, observe how they interact with each other, and how they converse with one another. If you're at a loss, you're not doing these things enough.
2 - Know Your Characters - Another critical part of being a writer is learning how to create realistic people from the ground up. This goes beyond just knowing what a character looks like and what their personality is like. This also includes knowing their internal conflict, what past experience or emotional wound led to this internal conflict, and how their internal conflict has led to their life/situation not being as good as it could be. You also need to understand how all of these things (past experiences, emotional wound, internal conflict, personality, present situation) impacts not just the emotional journey of who they are at the beginning of the story, but the emotional journey they'll take as they experience the events of the story. In other words, you need to know how all of these things affect the choices they make, and how the events of the story influences their change (for better or worse) or influences them to change the people/situation around them.
You also need to understand their goal (what they're trying to accomplish), their motivation (why they want to accomplish their goal), and what's the best/worst that can happen if they do or don't achieve their goal (what's at stake.) Part of the process of developing your characters may also include research into various things, like your character's mental health or neurological wiring, how their past experiences may have affected them, how certain personality traits can influence behavior and what people do or don't do, etc. Just bear in mind that everyone is different, and there's not just one way to portray any type of person. The research just gives you the knowledge you need to make the best creative decisions for your characters and story.
3 - Help Your Reader Know Your Characters - Once you know all of this about your characters, you have to let the reader know. You can illustrate who your character is--their personality, thoughts, feelings, relationships with others, life situation, relevant likes and dislikes, etc.--by showing their behavior, how they interact with others, the relationships they have with other characters, and what they think and feel. You can also weave in back story to clue the reader into the character's past experiences, the event/s that had the most influence on who they are now, etc. And, finally, you can illustrate their internal conflict by exploring their thoughts and feelings as it relates to that conflict. All of this can be accomplished through a relative balance of exposition (explaining things), action (things happening), and dialogue (conversation).
Happy writing!

Treat You 2
Warnings: dark elements, noncon, violence, mentions of abuse, other dark elements. Proceed with caution. (Tall!reader)
Note: Please let me know what you think as it helps me a lot with ideas and I love interacting with you all.
Part of The Club AU
Right before you leave, you notice the young barista in his jacket with a canvas knapsack slung over his shoulder. You keep your head down as you leave the porcelain mug on the counter and head out. It’s been about two hours, spent sipping cold tea and dreading your return home.
As you come out onto the street, the wind billows around you violently. The autumn whips at your clothing as you cling to the collar of your jacket to keep it out You shiver as leaves crunch under your soles and those of other pedestrians hurrying by.
You turn onto the street with the night club. A few employees disappear behind the heavy doors as they prepare to start the evening shift. The sky dims with each step, shadows pooling beneath parked cars and behind light poles.
You turn your head, sensing something looming behind you. Your heart picks up and you turn straight again. Once more you look across the street, searching for one of the burly bouncers. There’s a man in his black jacket but he’s thoroughly distracted by a girl with a stuffed animal in her arms, waving at him as she noisily chatters.
You veer towards the curb, acting as if you’re going to cross, taking the excuse to look up and down the street. There’s no one there, just you and your paranoia. Why are you so afraid of the dark when your father’s waiting for you at home?
You shudder and carry on. Another day wasted hiding away. You’ll have to catch up on your projects tonight. Your job isn’t much but it’s the only one you could find without college. Even Dairy Queen didn’t call you back. Online work captioning videos; simple enough but pays about the same.
As you reach your street, you peek over your shoulder again. It’s as if your steps are in a perpetual echo yet no one’s there. You’re tired. It’s been a long, endless day. The rude awakening of your father breaking dishes had your adrenaline spike too early.
You dig out your keys and find the grated front door on the old brick walkup. You shoulder inside, your heel hitting the door and kicking it wider. You drag your feet and wait for the heavy door to slam. It doesn’t. Not when you think it will.
It sounds almost like someone caught the door. You stop at the base of the stairwell and look back. Again, no one.
You shake your head and continue on. You brace yourself for what comes next. Down the hall, you stop at the door. You listen and hear the television blaring. Gently, you slide the key into the slot and twist.
Quiet, quiet. You enter and take off your shoes on the matter. You unzip your coat as your father’s lounge chair creaks. You tiptoe by the doorway of the front room, head bowed.
“That you?” He growls.
You stop short, “dad.”
“Where ya been? Staying out late.”
“It’s six.”
“I didn’t ask the time,” he retorts.
“Sorry–”
“Place stinks. You didn’t take the trash out.”
You look at him as he sits in the glare of the television. The old 60s serial plays loudly as his eyes don’t leave the screen. It’s like he’s hypnotised by the screen. He’s docile like this, distracted.
“I’ll take it out.”
“Damn right you will. I’m fucking starving too. Been waiting on my dinner since five.”
“Okay, dad, I’ll make some Kraft Dinner,” you offer.
“Put some hot dogs in it,” he demands.
“Well, dad, we gotta save those so we have dinner tomorrow–”
“Shut up!” He whips his beer can at you, its contents splashing over the carpet, “I bought the damn things so do what I fucking tell you.”
His voice thunders louder with each word. You push your shoulders up and shrink down, “I will, I will. I’ll get the trash first.”
“You come in her, back talking me, after you made me fucking WAIT!”
“Dad, please–”
“One more word and I’m going to get out of my fucking chair,” he warns.
You back away. It’s better to just do what he says. You won’t ever tell him you paid for the groceries that week since he didn’t have enough for the electric. No, he can sit in his beer-stained throne as you play his jester.
You tie up the garbage bag and pull it out of the bin. You carry it to the door and angle it out into the hall. It smells like cigarette butts and something rancid. As you come out, you nearly walk straight into someone else.
You wince and press yourself to the door as you shut it behind you. You blink as you recognise the man. How could that be possible?
“Uh, sorry, do you know where 2F is? I’m just dropping something off for my buddy’s nan,” the barista asks.
Does he not know you? Maybe you overestimated his kindness. Why would he remember you? He just sees a customer to coax a tip out of. You are so dumb.
“I…” you point down the hall. It’s right around the corner but you didn’t know an old woman lived there. You suppose you don’t pay much attention to your neighbours.
“Thanks, I… you know me, right? Peter, from the cafe?”
Oh, he does remember.
You shrug and look down at the garbage in your hand. “Hey, you want me to take that? I’m just slipping what I got in the slot before I head back out so–”
You shake your head and sidle away from him. It feels like too much of a coincidence but you’re well assured that you could never be that special to anyone. He wouldn’t follow you there. Just like your father says, you’re stupid and ugly and worthless.
“Alright, well, I hope you have a good night,” he chimes, “maybe I’ll see you on my way out.”
You don’t say anything as you turn and quickly carry the garbage down the hall. It’s not just the stench wanting you to get it out of there. You go down the stairs without looking back and burst out into the brisk evening.
You go around the side of the building and swing the bag into the dumpster. You’ll have to go right back up or your dad will lose it. At least you can use that as an excuse if you see that guy again. ‘Sorry, gotta make dinner.’

top 5 underrated bicameral dynamics / dynamics you’d like to explore more in the future (even just in one scene, inside thoughts, asks on here, etc)
Maïna this has sent me into a spin (positive)
Number ONE hands down, I’d love to explore more Bez feeling left out of Pecco/Luca … could be platonic but also could be some pining for both of them whether requited or unrequited would both be really fun imo…
Number two Pedro and Fermin as young policy aides/ staffers in contest with each other directly and indirectly. Still fleshing it out whether it would sit in bicameral or whetstone but … ideas are percolating… a complicated shared history… Fermin dropped in the team of a strong leading candidate and Pedro carving a name out for himself working for a candidate who is a long shot for their election… all of this happening in the years that Marc is maybe MAYBE considering a return to politics
Number three Dovi and Vale and Casey back story … like what was the dynamic in uni? The underlying competitive tension and tenuous friendship of convenience between Dovi and Vale. Then bring in the element of Casey and his observations of that friendship (and maybe Dovi having a tiny little crush on him)
Number four (cheating a little) Vale and retirement from political life/taking a back seat to Marc’s career. He hates it but how does that shake out against the lessons he has had to learn???? Assuming that they eventually have to adopt a child (the optics of a married couple with a kid is too compelling) … he would also have to be the “homemaker” how does he handle THAT
Number five NURSE FABIO and any member of the main cast of characters (in particular I think he should have some sort of star struck interaction with Valentino because i am reminded of this video once a week and I think he should get to, unwittingly, be dragged into rosquez divorce/ pre-reconciliation messiness)

Once saw someone describe ME as copaganda and honestly... I feel like that's a 100% accurate statement. It honestly dampens my enjoyment of the saga. Genie is out of the bottle, as they say.
Open contempt for civilian agencies, check. Repeated instances where they present fascism as a Good Thing Actually, check. Cops and military almost unilaterally depicted as correct and just, check. Ones like Harkun are treated as merely bad apples and hand-waved away whereas any and all politicians are treated as incompetent at best or outright corrupt/malevolent at worst. Not to mention the whole thing with Khalisah al-Jilani.
Idk. It all just feels so dim-witted and mean-spirited.
There are a lot of good things that make me love it with all my heart, and things that are not so good. I try to do my best to acknowledge the bad stuff and remain critical. So yeah, I do agree that some elements of the trilogy should be analyzed closely because it's kinda fucked-up.
Genie is out of the bottle, I find that the expression explains a lot. Because Mass Effect is a product of its time and place, and /insert the speech from LOTR/ the world has changed. I don't mean to say that it was never this bad, because I think it was, but we now are getting images, videos and live updates all the time showing us exactly how bad it is. We see so much suffering and injustice. And it's us "outside". Some are inside, and they're the ones showing us how bad it is. So... It's harder to see specific themes, stories and characters that are unchallenged. It's harder to see injustice being portrayed, even if the content doesn't always condone it.
I also think we are more critical in general. We are, unfortunately, used to specific issues so it's easier to recognize when they appear in fiction. I can really see that in the way people talk about specific characters. People idolize less, and I honestly think that's an improvement, because idolatry, at least how I see it, is not about seeing characters or stories as they are, but putting them on a pedestal. Characters are complex and flawed, and that's what makes them interesting. Real growth happens when characters change and adapt and rethink their position. Sometimes it means they have to look inside themselves and see the ugliness, and that means we get to see the ugly too. Not only that, but we can also contemplate what is ugly inside us, and see what we can do to change and grow. But not so long ago, before my hiatus, it was really hard to step away from "this character is a god" or "this character is flawless and if you don't see it you're not a fan" and "no no i can't see this issue at all, doesn't exist, lalalala" talk. Now it's harder for people not to see the issue. But the issue was always there.
You talked about Khalisah. I saw a meme on FB recently that says that if we can't hit someone like Khalisah in the new Mass Effect, we shouldn't bother playing it, which to me is 1. disturbing, 2. missing the fact that wars need journalists and reporters, even someone like Khalisah who is not always playing fair. I don't understand the option to hit her. I've ranted about it enough here. If you don't hit her, you get to encourage her and reassure her. It's obvious she's falling apart and she needs to be reassured. One of my favorite quotes in the game is what Shepard tells her: "Keep asking the hard questions." That's what is needed in a time of war. And sure, this one beautiful interaction and line won't take away the fact that some choices can feel mean-spirited but to me, it means it's not black & white. I see the ugliness, I do, but I also see the beauty.
IDK where I'm going with this. I guess that Mass Effect was never flawless and unproblematic, and in a way, I think it's a good thing that issues are seen and we can have a critical look at the worst parts of the trilogy.
But what is very specific to you, anon, is what you can tolerate, appreciate or enjoy. Some parts of the trilogy make me sad and or angry but it doesn't stop me from really enjoying the whole. If you find that you don't get to enjoy it anymore, because too many elements make it difficult to appreciate and it's now a real dislike, don't forget that you can step away. I'm not telling you that you have to do it. You can do what you want, but don't forget that you don't have to force yourself to love something. It's okay to move away from things because you now find them disappointing.
